Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Moshi / Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Morning breakfast and a transfer from Moshi / Arusha to Lake Manyara national park. Your safari driver will pick you up and drive you in the great East African Rift Valley towards Lake Manyara National Park.
On entry into the park, your will go for a game drive to seek out the wildlife that call Lake Manyara home. Drive to the beautiful Lake Manyara that covers 2 thirds of the park, it is a magnet that attracts different species of birds especially the pink flamingos and hundreds of different species of birds making it a bird lovers’ peace of paradise.
Break off for lunch and thereafter continue your game viewing experience in search of yet another unique attraction to this park, the rare tree climbing lions, usually found in the central area of the park.
Other animals to see in the park include baboons, impalas, blue monkeys, giraffes, buffalos, hippos, elephants and many others.
Day 2: To Serengeti National Park
We exit Lake Manyara national park in the morning after breakfast and drive to Serengeti national park via the beautiful Karatu farmlands and scenic highlands of Ngorongoro.
Once we arrive at the park, we shall have lunch. After, we shall drive to the heart of the Serengeti plains. The Seronera valley / area which is always teeming with wildlife all year round. In this area of the Serengeti, you have chances of seeing the Big 5, even the rare endangered black rhino among other animals like zebras, cheetahs, jackals, hyenas, hippos, gazelles and antelopes.
At the end of the day, retire to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Serengeti national park to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
You will have an early morning game drive in Serengeti national park. Catch a glimpse of what you might have missed out on day2. You can opt to go for hot air ballooning over the Serengeti plains. Transfer to Ngorongoro conservation area, home of the world’s largest caldera; Ngorongoro crater.
You will embark on a game drive in areas around the conservation area outside the crater. Ngorongoro inhabits over 100 different animal species with over 25,000 animals inhabiting the different habitats at the floor of the Ngorongoro crater. You can find giraffes in Ngorongoro but not at the crater floor.
Optional detour on this day to Olduvai Gorge.
Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater drive and departure
At sunrise, you will drive to the crater rim and descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro crater. Enjoy the lush green forests on the walls of the crater as you slope. Catching sight of some of the 400 bird species that inhabit the crater forests.
You will have a 5-hour game drive at in the crater before you ascend back to the crater rim. Expect to see lions, elephants, buffalos, cheetahs, leopards, rhino, wildebeest, elands, hippos, waterbucks, zebras, jackals, hyenas and more. Drive to the Southwestern part of the crater. Visit Lake Magadi, a crater lake at the floor of the crater whose algae attracts flocks of flamingoes and other water birds.
After your lunch by the hippo pool side. You will ascend the steep walls of the crater. Drive out of the conservation area back to Moshi / Arusha. End of Tanzania Wildlife Safari.
