Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Kigali
On arrival, your safari guide will pick you up from the airport and drive you to Kigali city. You will check in at your hotel, relax and prepare for an amazing safari for the next 9 days.
Day 2-3: City tour and Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Post breakfast, you will go on a city tour in Kigali where you will visit crafts shops, the Genocide center and the Rwanda museum among others then later in the day transfer to Volcanoes national park where you will get to see the mountain gorillas.
Gorilla trekking is always carried out in the early hours of the day, you will be up early, have breakfast and head to the park’s gate where they will brief you and give you a ranger guide that will guide you into the Volcanoes Forest to trek the gorillas. The forest is also home to the endangered golden monkeys, with some luck you might be able to see them along the way. Later in the day, you can opt for a cultural experience by visiting one of the neighboring villages near the park.
Day 4: Flight to Tanzania
Pack your bags and leave the rolling hills of North Rwanda behind as you drive to Kigali to catch your connecting flight to Tanzania.
Your Tanzanian safari guide will be waiting to welcome you and drive you to your hotel in Arusha. You can get a chance to walk around Arusha town.
Day 5-6: Exploring Serengeti National Park
From Arusha to the most popular park in Tanzania. The endless plains of Serengeti host a varied array of animal species and bird species offering amazingly rewarding game viewing experiences during game drives. You will go on game drives in different areas of the park at different times of the day. Those travelling during the season of the great wildlife migration have the chances of witnessing this natural wonder and all the predator-prey action that comes with all the thrill. Dinning and accommodation at your safari camp or lodge.
Day 7: Crossover to Kenya
Today you drive towards the Tanzania-Kenya border to cross into Kenya to visit the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. You will check in at your safari camp / lodge for a relaxing day as you prepare for the adventure ahead.
Day 8-9: Exploring Maasai Mara National Reserve
Game drives at different times of the day to maximize your time in the Maasai Mara national reserve. The other home to the annual wildlife migration that takes place in the Serengeti ecosystem that includes the Mara region. Expect to see different animal species like wildebeests, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, Nile crocodiles, lions, cheetahs, hyenas, jackals and more. Dinning and overnights at your safari camp / lodge.
Day 10: Transfer to Nairobi – End of safari
After breakfast, your safari guide will drive you to the airport for your home bound flight.
